Bicycle Basket Bazaar is Two!

Congratulations to the Bicycle Basket Bazaar, which celebrates its second birthday this Saturday! There’s a double-whammy of BBB fun over the weekend to get as many people into the party spirit as possible. On Saturday, the special birthday bash has a different location to usual. Instead of being couped up in The Fishmarket, the Basketeers will be let loose on the piazza in front of All Saints Church, bang in the middle of Northampton town centre. On Sunday, the festivities continue as part of the Blink festival on the market square. The square will be decked out in astro-turf and white picket fencing, with glamourous 50s femme fatales dishing out strawberries and cream, with live tennis matches and tea dances. The events on both days are free, but make sure you raid your piggy bank in advance, as there’s bound to be lots of handmade and home grown delights on offer!

The Legendary John Peel

If you’re too young to know who John Peel is, then listen up. He was the fella that brought new, bizarre and glorious music to us over the radio when we were kids. Long before the days of the internet, he was the source of the stuff we wanted to listen to and find out about. He also had the best voice in the world, and was on everyone’s fantasy ‘sit down and have a nice cup of tea with’ list. His legacy still lives on here at DG Towers. We’re still listening to the stuff he introduced us to decades ago, but now we’re having to dig out the new and bonkers stuff via other methods. Inspired by John, we’ve released two new badges. First is right place, right time, wrong speed, in recognition of Mr P’s uncanny knack of playing a record at the wrong speed (a mistake you don’t get very often with new-fangled mp3s). Second is what would John Peel listen to? Which is a tricky question to answer, but we’re guessing it would be challenging, strange and possibly very beautiful.

Bantam Bikes Update

Bantam Bikes, the independent, rider owned bicycle shop run by the Pimp My Bike boys has now been open a fortnight. The combination of bike shop and pub has proved to be a hit so far, with punters getting a while-you-wait service over a nice cold pint. The multi-storey car park directly behind the shop has also proved invaluable for people turning up with bikes that aren’t in a fit state to ride (even if arriving by car means you have to stick to fizzy pop rather than proper booze). The shop’s opening times are 5-9pm Tuesday to Saturday at The Bantam, 7 Abington Square, Northampton. Tonight is also when the Northampton Fixed Gear and Single Speed gang get together down there, so it’s starting to be a hub for all things bike related. If you’re a fan of bicycles (and beer) get down there and check it out!

First up is Broke Bike Mountin’, which is the perfect gift for all your gay cyclist friends. And yes, that is something that we have quite a few of, don’t you? Next we’ve got the new miracle cure for erectile dysfunction – Pieagra. It’s pretty similar to Viagra, but has a better meat filling. Lastly, Hot Chick is a literal take on, you guessed it, hot chicks. Remember kids, you can stay up to date with all our latest designs and news by subscribing to our RSS feeds. Soapbox Chariots Of Fire

The Devil’s Rejects Soapbox Race Team are back from Scotland, and they’ve got some new silverware for the trophy cabinet! Considering they trashed the soapbox on the practice runs the day before the race, it’s a surprise that they even took part, let alone achieve second place. The team who won overall broke the UK gravity power speed record at 64mph, so it was no shame to be placed after them; and TDR were only a second behind anyway! The crash on the practice run smashed the front section of the car, breaking the front wheels and damaging the steering box. Undeterred, the team worked through the night in the hope of making her run again. Fortunately, at the summit of the mountain they were racing down, there was a cable-car engineering workshop. With a mixture of luck, brute force and sheer determination, they passed scrutineering the next day and were given the green flag to race. After an increasingly difficult series of heats, The Mortician lined up against the best in the field for the final down the longest, fastest and most testing course in Britain. The rest is now written into legend, the greatest comeback story in the annals of soapbox racing. OK, so they didn’t come first, but they still beat their arch-rivals / best drinking buddies Centa Bavaria, who came in third. So it’s all good. What makes it even more impressive is that by the end of the qualifying sessions, TDR were placed second from last out of a field of twenty eight. They were also competing against teams from Bentley who had spent £30,000 designing, building and wind-tunnel testing their racers. Last year, when the team’s new soapbox was premiered at the Belchford Downhill Challenge, their results weren’t exactly much to write home about. They still managed to pick up the “Best turned out” award as a consolation prize. Now, they’ve proved that they’ve got the substance to back up the style, and are now proper contenders on the UK gravity racing scene. They’ll next be appearing at the inaugural Dalby Forest soapbox derby in August, and then onto the main attraction of the year, the Belchford Downhill Challenge in September. Congratulations gents, you’re truly inspirational. Seriously. Oh, and the badges DeathGob knocked up for the Scottish Cartie Association were a hit. Apparently “they went like snow off a dyke”.

The Devil’s Rejects in Scotland

The Devil’s Rejects soapbox racing team are on tour! They set off from Northampton yesterday, and at 10.08pm last night they were in Carlisle (trying to locate some booze), and by now they should have crossed the border into Scotland. There won’t be time to relax with a few beers straight after their epic journey however, as the time trials for the Cairngorm Soapbox Extreme start at 5pm this evening. It’ll be whiskey galore after that though, with a full compliment of banging hangovers for the main event tomorrow. Not only will they be head-to-head racing for the first time, but they’ll be taking on two (gravity powered) teams from Bentley, the legendary car-producer. Also racing are Team Weasel, winners in last month’s Catterline Cartie Challenge. They’re a formidable opponent because they’re in possession of a lucky piece of clothing, which just so happens to be one of our Toten Kopf Chopper Club t-shirts. We’ve been promised live updates from the Devil’s Rejects via twitter, and there should also be more info coming from Team Weasel and the race organizers too. With a course that produces speeds of over 60 miles an hour down the hills of the Highlands, extreme race action is guaranteed. We wish we could be there to see it first hand, but good luck to you all. We’ll be cheering you on, wearing our TDR badges and joining in with a few whiskeys of our own from the safety of the office. Hope you all make it in one piece, so we can have a few pints together at Belchford in September!

There’s been so much going on here at DeathGob HQ, that we haven’t had time to update you on the new badges from last week, so here goes! Jedward have annoyed the ‘Rock Fraternity’ by releasing their own version of Blink 182’s All the small things. Kerrang, the authority on all things metal, have set up a campaign to get the original chart higher on Sunday than Jedward’s version. The twins aren’t exactly our favourite band at the moment either, since they ‘did a Freddie Starr’ and ate our hamster when they popped round to borrow a cup of sugar at the weekend. The naughty boys. Anything to get a bit more publicity! In other news, Gilliam McKeith has been getting into hot water by making libelous comments on Twitter. Check out what the ex-doctor has been saying, then grab yourself one of our comedy Doctor Poo badges. And last, but by no means least, may we present our Book Whore badge. It was inspired by a nice lunch break in the public library down the road, and it makes a nice companion piece to our Library Geek badge.

Team DeathGob are in demand! Wednesday night was the opening of Bantam Bikes, and last night was the launch of St Giles Cheese. They sell loads of great smelly fromage, but they also stock loads of terrific booze, choccies and all sorts of other smashing foodie stuff as well. Cleverly, they’re running a fruit and veg barter scheme were you can swap your surplus produce for items off the shelf. Fingers crossed, come September you’ll be able to get spuds from the DeathGob allotment. The shop officially opens on Saturday, so if you’re in Northampton, make sure you go down and check it out. Bantam Bikes

Over the last couple of weeks, the Pimp My Bike crew have been setting up a bike workshop in Northampton. It’s handily located in the outhouses behind The Bantam pub on Abington Square, and tonight’s the opening party! Everyone’s invited to come along this evening between 7.30 and 11, take a look around, talk bikes, and drink some real ale. Once it’s open for business, Bantam Bikes will be providing repairs, pimping bikes, and selling all sorts of custom bike stuff that you won’t be able to find anywhere else. They’ll also be hosting their regular single-speed and fixie meet-ups every Wednesday night. Our Pimp My Bike t-shirts (for girls and boys) are currently out of stock (sorry!), but you should be able to find one or two gracing the walls of the workshop if you want to get your hands on one. You can still order the badges online with us. There’s a rumour that Chris will be offering the first lady to turn up tonight wearing a pencil skirt and black stilettos free servicing for life, but don’t quote us on that. We get through a lot of tea here at DeathGob HQ. In fact, we get through so much that we broke the kettle; and the tea urn; and the hot beverage dispensing machine. In the end, we decided to buy one of the new fangled TeaBot 3000s, and we’re glad we did, because it’s brilliant. Not only does it brew the perfect cuppa, but it delivers it to your desk as well – how’s that for service? We like it so much that we drew a picture of it and stuck it on a badge, too. Now when we leave the office, we can still gaze lovingly at it, knowing its burbling away waiting for our return, awww.

Campaign Results!

Last week, the European Court of Human Rights finally ruled that Section 44 of the Terrorism Act 2000 was in breach of Article 8 of the European Convention on Human Rights, and was therefore illegal. This week, the BBC Trust rejected plans to close BBC Radio 6music. We can therefore conclude that every time we make a badge in support of a campaign, it ends in success. Since they’ve served their purpose, we’ll soon be saying goodbye to our Ban Section 44 and Save 6music badges, but we’ll be creating some more to fill the void. If you’ve got any campaigns or good causes that you think we should get behind, leave us a comment. We might make a badge about it, and see whether our 100% success rate can continue!

Everyone’s looking for Raoul Moat, but nobody can find him! It’s as if the crazed killer is the tricky-to-find titular character from Where’s Wally? Hence, we’ve slapped his head on Wally’s body and hey-presto, a new badge! Although it’s neither big nor clever to make light of such serious crimes, we happily concede that we’re both small and a bit dim. Anyway, the badge will only be available for a very limited period of time, probably until just after the whole shebang ends in a nasty blood-filled shoot-out in a barn in Northumbria. Fingers crossed it all ends sensibly though, with firm handshakes and a calm embarkation in a shiny Black Maria.

The official description of Countdown is a “show in which two contestants engage in a battle of wits, competing against the clock in games of lexical dexterity and numerical agility”. Which makes it all sound rather dull, which its not. It’s a DG office favourite, and not just because of the gorgeous yet formidable Rachel Riley. The show uses a “winner stays on” format, with an eight programme limit. If you’re good enough to win eight times, you become an octo-champ. In our heads, we’re all octo-champs, and it’ll stay that way because we’d never dare to apply to appear on the show. In the meantime, we’ll just stick to wearing future octo champ badges.

Clunker Classic 2010

If you like bikes and beer, then chances are you’ll love the Clunker Classic. It’s one of the craziest bike races in the world, and returns for its ninth year this Saturday to dish out some more drunken punishment. Obviously, we can’t divulge the details of this highly illegal race, but if you happen to be having a quiet pint in Porlock at about midday, look out for the nutters bezzing around on inappropriate bikes. It shouldn’t be too hard (there’ll be loads of ‘em). Even though we’d love a few more scars, Team DG aren’t able to attend this year. Big thumbs up though to everyone who will be braving the slopes, and remember that the nearest minor injuries unit is at Minehead, telephone number 01643 707251. According to Bruce Chatwin, they had some amazing graffiti on the streets of Patagonia in the late 70s. “The best intellectual is a dead intellectual” was daubed on walls over thirty years ago but still has relevance today, hence its arrival on our latest badge. Just round the corner from the DeathGob offices, we’ve had some classy slogans scrawled across the walls. “C Pryor is fat” and “Hallam is gay” have been particular highlights. Who knows whether they’ll have the same cultural impact another thirty years down the line?

Twenty-four years ago, England faced Argentina in the quarter-finals of the world cup. Six minutes into the second half, Maradona scores the first goal of the match: with his hand. Or as the big man himself claimed “un poco con la cabeza de Maradona y otro poco con la mano de Dios” ("a little with the head of Maradona and a little with the hand of God"). That’s the inspiration (if a tiny bit belated) for our latest badge – touched by the hand of Bod. To continue with the history lesson, Maradona then scored a second goal. This time he used permitted body parts to score it, his feet for example, and it was overwhelmingly voted goal of the century. And, although it may still grate that the first goal was a big fat cheat, there’s no shame going home after being defeated by the best goal in a hundred years. Skip forward twenty-four years, and the same can’t quite be said for the outgoing England team, but we’d better leave that hot potato alone for a bit, eh? No doubt people will still be banging on about it a couple of decades down the line.

Bike Week 2010

It’s not even halfway into Bike Week, and there are already sore botties all round at DeathGob HQ. No, not through any kinky spanking games (well, partially due to that), but from saddle sores. A particularly vigorous cycling session on Saturday night powering the Magnificent Revolution sound system at the Bicycle Basket Ball has left a little bit of tenderness. Whether you’re getting into the spirit of things like us and taking part in one of the many organized Bike Week events, or just razzing around in the sunshine on your BMX, smarten yourself up with some of our wheely good bike themed gear. Brian now becomes Obe Wan Cox, following the centuries-old tradition of the United Kingdom. He gains minor special abilities and a new robe to wear whilst making the tea in the morning. This of course, is but rung 1 in the great ladder of Mr. Cox's destiny to becoming Lord Cox, Arch-Advisor to none-else but Emporer Palpatine, and Master of The Force.

Northampton Carnival 2010

The Pimp My Bike team was originally put together to make a video spoof of Pimp My Ride. All the staff here at DeathGob HQ were part of the act, and well over 100,000 people have viewed the result. Since that initial foray into silliness, the PMB crew have changed their line-up (thankfully ditching the DeathGob staff) and stopped playing for laughs. They’re now a tight outfit producing some excellent cycles. After the success of last year, they’ll once again be decked out in their Pimp My Bike t-shirts (available for girls and boys) and badges, spearheading the Northampton Carnival tomorrow afternoon. Hope the weather’s nice for you, chaps!

The Queen’s Birthday

The monarchy is not dead, but it’s got to be on its last legs. With the Queen celebrating her second birthday of the year tomorrow, she’s surely burning the candles at both ends. Now we don’t begrudge her having more than one birthday a year, we’d all do that if we were in charge of the country. The problem is that technically, she’s now 168, which is getting on a bit. Not saying she looks old or nuffink, but we’ll be proudly wearing our Skull and Cross Bones t-shirts and badges this weekend to show our support. We’ll probably have some celebratory sherries as well, just to help with thinning the old blood. If it works for Queenie, it’s our duty to give it a go too. If you’re finding it hard to keep up with all the latest developments in the world of digital photography, then take a break this Saturday; it’s Instamatic Day*! You won’t need to spend a couple of grand on some flashy DSLR that will be out of date before you take it out of the box, you can pick up a clonky old instamatic for under a quid! Like Pinhole Day, it’s the absolute antithesis of cutting edge technology. It might be a struggle to find some 126 film (since it stopped production ten years ago) but it is still available if you look hard enough. However, if you check out some of the little bastions of insta-users, you can find out how to mod your camera to take 35mm film and other helpful hints and tips. Saturday the 19th of June: The Bicycle Basket Bazaar Bash, an evening of musical entertainment in the form of DJ's and hopefully a karaoke band, along with the Magnificent Revolution Cycle Powered Cinema! This is part of a weekend of good bicycle stuff going on to celebrate the start of National Cycle Week, plus a good excuse for a knees up! Tickets are £5 in advance and are available from the Nook Café in the Fishmarket. Billing Chopper Rally 2010

The Toten Kopf Chopper Club and the Pimp My Bike crew will be pedaling down to the Billing Chopper rally this weekend. Although it started as a celebration of the Raleigh Chopper, the event is now a festival of all things two wheeled, from custom-cruisers, muscle bikes, and a whole host of other specialties. Previous highlights have been a freak-bike circus, flaming drag racing and Sinclair C5 breaking stunts! The National Street Rod Association will also be having their own event in the next area, so even if you’re only got a passing interest in things on wheels, Billing is the place to be this weekend!

Football hoardings. They’re a bit more whizzy than they used to be, right? Just after Crouchy stuck one past the Mexicans last night, I couldn’t fail to notice the FAs advert for Football Day on June 12th. This gave me an idea. If Football Day is on June 12th, then No Football day should be on June 11th. No Music Day is the day before St Cecelia’s Day, and Halloween is the day before All Saints day, so it makes perfect sense. If you’re not a fan of football, or are plainly not interested in the World Cup, then get yourself a No Football badge, and celebrate on June 11th. Like it or not, you’re won’t be able to escape football this summer. The World Cup may still be three weeks away, but the first of England’s warm-up fixtures is on Monday night against Mexico. From then on in, the beautiful game will be unavoidable. To coincide with this monumental event, we’re releasing three new badges. When Superman Returns hit the big screen, studio bosses were hoping for it to follow in the footsteps of Batman Begins and be a total reboot for the franchise. Unluckily for the Man of Steel, things didn’t quite work out as well for him as they did the Dark Knight. Superman Unleashed, the follow up to 2006’s film has been languishing in development hell for years now. Its current status on IMDB says its due for release in 2011, but this still looks doubtful. Brandon Routh’s contract with Warner Brothers has since lapsed, leaving the lead character’s role up for grabs. But that’s neither here nor there; we’re interested in the baddies - they’re what really make a superhero film, and that’s why this next installment could turn out to be amazing. Terence Stamp, or General Zod as you may remember him, has confirmed that as soon as his work on Ultramarines has finished, will be starting pre-production on the new Supes flick. Unfortunately he won’t be squeezing into his iconic supervillain jumpsuit, but he’ll be recast as Jor-El, Clark Kent ’s biological father. Of course, if you’ve been paying attention, you’ll know that he’s been getting comfy in that role via Smallville. However, and here’s the bit you’ve been waiting to hear, the character of General Zod will be returning to the silver screen as well! The man who’ll be greasing back his hair and demanding that you kneel before him will be comedy legend Simon Pegg. Fresh from his Tinseltown exposure in last years’ highly acclaimed Star Trek reboot, the inspired piece of casting will have the Peggster precisely manicuring his beard and stepping into the boots of one of the best baddies of all time. Now that’s restored a little bit faith in Hollywood, go and buy one of our Zod t-shirts (for girls and boys) and badges while you’re still fired up about the whole thing.

The Bristol Twestival last Thursday was a great success. Their fundraising target was £3000, and they managed to smash it by raising £5617! That’s the third highest amount of money raised by a UK city, and the eleventh most in the world. Our badges were in some of the goodie bags that they gave out to the punters, so we’re glad to be a part of this great fundraiser. All the proceeds go to Concern Worldwide, which help reduce poverty. Q: The Winged Serpent may not be on your list of greatest films of all time, but here at DeathGob HQ, it’s held in the highest regard. Being in the badge business, we’re also fans of vintage badges. Which is why I’m pretty distraught this afternoon. Last night I noticed that my authentic Q badge (with the same design as in the thumbnail on the right) was missing. It has been a permanent fixture on my jacket for many years now, and is sorely missed. I think it was knocked off by my bag strap on the way home from the office, so it’s lying, lonely and unloved, somewhere in the midst of Northamptonshire. Tonight sees the unlikely pairing of Iron Maiden and BBC4 for the screening of Flight 666, a documentary about the metal legends’ ‘Somewhere back in time’ tour. The short but sweet Heavy Metal Britannia season continues tomorrow with a whole evening’s worth of metal mayhem, including another hour of ‘the Maiden’ live in concert. We’ll be watching every second of it, decked out in our 666 t-shirts and ‘death to false metal’ badges, discussing whether the whole thing is an inspired piece of programming or if it proves that the beeb has totally lost its marbles. Section 44 of the Terrorism Act 2000 allows the police to stop and search anyone in a specific area. If used properly, it might be a useful piece of legislation in the “fight against terror”. The problem is, the police are widely abusing their power and applying section 44 to hassling innocent members of the public. Amateur photographers have been particularly hard hit, as shown by a recent spate of high profile cases. If you told us when we were teenagers that it would soon be possible to have all the music you ever owned on a music player a fraction of a size of a Walkman, we would have told you to “get outta here”. Now of course, the mp3 player is ubiquitous, and we can have weeks’ worth of music in our back pockets. You can even skip to the track you want without having to fast forward for ages; now that’s progress. However, all this on-demand, instant-access hyper-portability causes its own problems. If you want an erudite analysis of how the mp3 player is devaluing music, then read The 17 by Bill Drummond. It goes into far more depth than there’s space for here, and is worth buying for the Little Richard anecdote alone. Which brings us, in a rather round about manner, to our latest t-shirt. The jukebox is pretty much the antithesis of the mp3 player. You can’t put it in your back pocket, and it only contains a comparatively small amount of songs. They are however beautiful objects, and make for a cracking gold print on t-shirts for girls and boys.

Rave Against The Machine

After their comprehensive drubbing of Joe McElderry in the 2009 Christmas Number One race, it’s nice to see Rage Against The Machine back in the limelight. Their upcoming free gig at Finsbury Park was hugely oversubscribed, and only 40,000 out of the 120,000 who applied for tickets will be seeing the band on June 6th. No doubt the crowds of lucky punks will be singing “Fuck you, I won’t do what you tell me” loud enough for us all to hear. Being really angry and shouting a lot isn’t the only way “stick it to the man”, there is another way. Back in the 90s when we were marching against the Criminal Justice Act, it became apparent that you could Rave Against The Machine as well. Whichever turns out to be your preferred method of smashing the system (and hey, they’re both effective and highly enjoyable), just make sure you’re wearing the correct t-shirt for the job; otherwise you’ll never live it down when your kids look back at your police mug shots a couple of decades down the line.

LHC back in action

The Devil's Rejects have returned from their race at Belchford with the "Best Turned Out" award, congratulations guys! You can read the race report here.
This Sunday they're having a party to celebrate, and everyone's invited! The Victoria Inn, Northampton are hosting the celebrations, and you'll be able to have your photo taken, and have a push around in their soapbox. Later on, they'll be premiering the videos of all the race day footage. So if you fancy having a few pints, and want to avoid watching repeats of the Antique Roadshow, meet them there from 4pm onwards!

Bring on the jelly and ice cream, on Saturday 25th of July, the Bicycle Basket Bazaar Celebrates its first Birthday! This unique event draws people of all ages and backgrounds together to create a wonderfully creative and vibrant community.
Party hats, birthday cake, fizzy pop and possibly a Banana Bread Beer or two are all on the menu, so with this in mind, we invite you to come and celebrate this magnificent monthly event at The Fishmarket, where you will find exquisite handmade goods, delicious home made cakes and delightful vintage treasures.
The event is part of the Green Screen Craft & Film Festival which runs all weekend.

Our man Kaiser has been mixing with the stars! Three of the cast of hit TV show Heroes popped into the Make it! show that he was exhibiting in.
Greg Grunberg, Ashley Crow and Ntare Guma Mbaho Mwine all bought Kaiser's skulls made of bike parts. Greg even claimed his was a masterpiece on his twitter feed!

The Bicycle Basket Bazaar has been invited the "Spring is in the fair" event in Northampton's Abington park band stand on Saturday 24th May!
This is a great opportunity for you to pack up a picnic, pedal down to the park, hang out and possibly flog a few bits and pieces, and listen to the live acoustic bands from 12 till 6pm. As this is more of an ad-hoc social event, pitches are free but I will be asking for a small donation to "The Battle Fund", it's also a good PR stunt for the Fishmarket BBB the following Saturday. November 2008 Bicycle Basket Bazaar

“Made in Northampton” is the theme for the next Bicycle Basket Bazaar on the 22nd November. Just in case you’re not au fait with Northampton’s famous exports, here’s a quick roundup of some of the finer examples. Firstly, it’s compulsory for everyone in the town to either wear quality Gentlemen’s shoes or Kinky Boots. The town’s so shoe crazy that they’ve even got a Shoe Museum, with examples of footwear ranging from a pair of Elton John’s platforms, to a set of bespoke boots for an elephant, true fact!
Carlsberg Special Brew, also known as Tramp’s Treacle, is brewed down by the river. The brewery fills the sky for miles around with the delicious aroma of hops, which probably acts as a bisto-like trail for Winos from the surrounding areas.
It’s doubtful if any of these products will make an appearance at the BBB, but one thing’s for certain; there will definitely be a fine array of home grown provender, hand-made oddities and vintage treasures, most of which could happily and proudly be labeled “Made in Northampton”.

Friday night saw the opening of Wanderlust in Northampton's Fishmarket. There was pink Cava galore and lots of air-kissing and lovey stuff like that, which was all very nice. The news is however, that you can now get prints of my work, such as this really anal drawing of Tokyo from there, so go and take a look. And buy some of their smashing books and magazines as well while you're there. But get your priorities right and buy my work first. I've got kids to feed, you know.

Saturday’s Bicycle Basket Bazaar was a great success, with bikes laden with a wonderful array of goods filling The Fishmarket. Kaiser’s £1 a kiss stall didn’t quite take off as he expected, bit otherwise it was thumbs up all round.

Sometimes, when we have a few minutes spare between making fab t-shirts, some of us here at DeathGob HQ get our crayons out and like to make pretty pictures. Then, if we’re lucky and bump into someone we can confuse with long words, we sometimes get our pictures into galleries. Which is exactly what happened with the Freezing Art Fair at the Fishmarket in Northampton.
The show runs from 1st – 22nd December, and most of the stuff is for sale. So now you can get your very own crayon masterpiece from the DG school of art, just in time for Christmas – handy!

Clunker '07 Report

There’s a distinct smell of Deep Heat around the DeathGob offices this week. We all survived this year’s Clunker Classic, but there are a still lot of aching bones to be tended to. A couple of videos of the event are now online, so you can see stupid stuff like building spirals with large rocks, then trying to ride around them; axing mountain bikes to death because they were strictly prohibited, and eating doughnuts with Stilton, because that’s all that was available. On second thoughts, maybe that smell isn’t Deep Heat after all. It could well be Stilton covered doughnuts moulding away in a backpack somewhere…

Comic Relief does Fame Academy ended on Friday night with Tara coming out on top.
You’ve got to admire Tricia’s attempt to snatch the crown for herself: "We won the competition last night, me and Tara". Actually love, no you didn’t. You lost it. Tara won, you were the first loser. Deal with it.
They were all winners really, because they raised a massive stack of cash for good causes. Which is nice.
Angellica was still obviously the best though, coz she had the team with the DeathGob t-shirts, innit?

Here at DeathGob HQ, we're not usually bothered with do-gooding and our friends tell us we don't do comedy much either. Our motto is "Charity begins at home – or at least, down the boozer".
However, our miserly attitude changed when supporters of the fab and beautiful TV-presenter Angellica Bell asked Team DG really, really nicely to make them some t-shirts for Comic Relief UK does Fame Academy 2007.
The show starts this Saturday, 3rd March at 5.55pm on BBC1 in the UK , so make sure you phone some votes in for Angellica, because she's ace and smells like cute little kittens covered in Spring Blossom flavour Shake N' Vac. Or if not her, then Shaun Williamson, aka Barry from EastEnders - just because he's lovely and cuddly, despite reeking of peanuts and old newspapers.
Heck, why not vote for both? It's all for charidee, mate and you'll be doing something that's even gooder than starting a school for orphaned koala bears with reading difficulties.

It’s not often that something spurs us into action here at DeathGob HQ, but when Sweeney’s t-shirt folding video popped into our inbox yesterday, murmurs of “I bet we could do that” could be heard.
Boxes of stock got tipped out onto the floor, and an intensive tee-folding session ensued. Remarkably, for such a bunch of chimps who have only just learned how to utilize their opposing thumbs, the results weren’t overly bad. There’s still some way to go before we can offer our services professionally, but click on the video to see one of our Keep Britain Tiny t-shirts get done over.

Bike Hell takes place on Saturday 7th October, starting at 3pm. The meeting point is The End pub in Northampton, and then it’s on to a secret location for general bike mayhem. There’ll be wheelie competitions, big skid competitons (bring some spare pants), drag racing, demolition derbies, and that kind of thing. Oh, and probably some drinking. In fact, definitely some drinking. So go down to your shed and dust your bike off and come and join us! We’ll be the ones wearing the ace Tees.

So it comes as a great joy to us to learn that Monday marked the 75th birthday of the original supermodel, Carmen Dell'Orefice. Dell'Orefice had jelly, cakes and a clown at her birthday party, and Kate Moss did the balloon animals, a hitherto undiscovered talent for the dimunuitive charlie-snorting fashion minxtress. All the partygoers were treated to a wonderful display of elastic starfish. When DeathGob scouts approached Carmen to ask her if she would model our highbrow fashion line, we were prevented from getting any closer to her via a court order. It seems someone managed to tip her off about us before we got there. Bum. Anyway, Happy BirthDay Orefice!

Well IT MUST STOP we tell you! We must turn back the tide of these sterilised impersonal death-caverns. We need a return to the good old Britishness of the local greasy spoon. A place where you can be served without a smile, a place that doesn't ask if you'd "like a biscotti with that", a place that doesn't pretend that it cares about your day when it actually doesn't. We need a return to plates stacked high with cheap food and mugs of tea so sugarey sweet that local beehives can smell them from 20 miles away. Fortunately, The big hitters are with us on this. Well, we grabbed some unwitting models, blindfolded them and piled them into the back of a van containing frozen chickens bound for Norway. With them out of the way for some considerable time, we got down to the serious process of doing an anti-fashion shoot for our designs in the World famous* site of the former Nunn Mills Power Station. Broken drug needles and absuive tramps aside, we had a jolly old time, dodging asbestos and carbon filament death to bring you that special "urban grit" look that we know you're used to. You'll be seeing the results all over the site, but we're sure that you appreciate the death and slaughter we had to go to to bring you the hottest fashion looks around! * as in, not famous at all.
