Yellow Car Punch - The Official Rules and Regulations

A yellow car, yesterday. *THUMP*

You've probably seen the video, and now you want to play Yellow Car Punch yourself. But hold your horses just a sec, have you read all the rules and regulations yet? No, I thought not.

Object Of The Game
The object of Yellow Car Punch is to spot Yellow Cars before your opponent(s).
On “calling” a yellow car first, you are permitted to punch your opponent(s).

Number Of Players
Two or more, unless you're a masochist, in which case by all means play against yourself.

How To Play
On seeing a Yellow Car, the players must try and be the first to shout “Yellow Car” and point in the direction of the vehicle. This is known as ‘calling’ a Yellow Car. Once a successful call has been made, the vehicle must be verified by the other player(s). If the car is verified, then the successful caller may then punch the other player(s).

Optional / Advanced Rules

1. If a car has been called prematurely which turns out not to be yellow, the other players may hit the incorrect caller. This is useful when playing in low light conditions.
GOLD cars are not YELLOW, so if someone calls such a vehicle, remember to whack em with glee and then laugh at their colour-blindness.
2. A points system may be introduced to make the game last a specific amount of time e.g. first to five. If using this alongside optional rule 1, then points may be deducted if an incorrect call is made.
3. Once a car has been called, it can not be called again for the rest of the day. This resolves loopholes such as watching Yellow Cars drive around roundabouts.
4. Players may opt to be more specific in their calls e.g. Yellow Beetle; Yellow Fiat Punto; Yellow Bentley Continental GT coupé etc. This is particularly useful in multiple Yellow Car situations.
5. Other vehicles can be included at the players’ mutual discretion, but they must be called appropriately e.g. Yellow Truck; Yellow Motorbike; Yellow Gyrocopter etc.
6. In certain situations, if there is mutual agreement among the players, punches may be swapped for another type of hit, such as a kick. This option is often favoured by office workers who are fortunate enough to be seated by a window.
7. Weapons can replace punches, so long as all the players are equally equipped. An example of the use of clubs in a professional game can be seen here.

Health Issues

1. Players should be of sound health. The Yellow Car Punch Association recommends that people with heart conditions and people who bruise easily should check with their GP before playing.

Clothing

1. Below the belt punches are not recommended, but if you happen to be competing against small children or midgets, wearing a cricket box or similar item is advised.
2. Some excellent official Yellow Car Punch clothing can be found here.

Hints & Tips

1. Professional Yellow Car Punchers often find themselves still calling Yellow Cars to themselves even when not in actual game situations.
2. New York, with it’s proliferation of yellow taxis, is a great place to take a holiday. Similarly, Santiago has an unusually high yellow bus count.
3. Playing against a professional Yellow Car Puncher may hurt lots and lead to a spell in Casualty, but is an excellent way to pick up advanced play tactics.

Further Play

1. Once players have fully grasped Yellow Car Punch, they can opt to play Yellow Ultimo. The rules are the same as Yellow Car Punch, but anything yellow can be called e.g. Yellow Shoes; Yellow Text On That Sign; That Dreary Song On The Radio By Coldplay etc
